Director, Financial Industry Partnerships

families, and our shared communities.
The mission of Financial Beginnings is to empower youth and adults to take control of their financial futures. FB fulfills this mission by extending programming to more communities via local, on-the-ground teams. These teams, along with their volunteer networks, deliver our financial education programming that is continuallyntested, revised, and improved to ensure mission alignment and participant impact.

Role Summary: Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships, the Director of Financial Industry Partnerships is a critical revenue-generating role responsible for designing, building, and scaling Financial Beginnings’ service-based partnerships primarily within the financial industry (banking, credit unions). This role owns a portfolio of partners seeking to engage through fee-for-service and value-aligned earned income offerings, including curriculum licensing, educator and volunteer facilitator training, workplace financial wellness programming, volunteer access and engagement, and co-developed education initiatives.
Blending business development with relationship management, the Director will lead strategy and execution for a growing service partnership vertical, with a new and existing business annual revenue goal. Success in this role requires strong consultative selling skills, the ability to translate partner needs into scalable program offerings both regionally and nationally, and a disciplined approach to pipeline management and forecasting. This is an opportunity to build a national model for how financial institutions engage in meaningful, measurable financial education impact while advancing Financial Beginnings’ growth and sustainability.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Revenue Strategy & Ownership
- Own and achieve an annual revenue target through primarily service-based partnerships.
- Build and manage a healthy pipeline of prospects and opportunities, maintaining clear forecasting and conversion metrics.
Partnership Development & Business Development
- Prospect, qualify, and close new partnerships with financial industry partners seeking financial education and volunteerism service engagement beyond philanthropy.
- Lead consultative conversations to understand partner goals (e.g., CRA-qualified volunteer alignment, employee engagement, customer education) and align them with Financial Beginnings’ offerings.
- Develop customized proposals and presentations that clearly articulate value, impact, and ROI.
- Structure and negotiate partnership agreements, including licensing, training contracts, and multi-year agreements.
Portfolio Management & Partner Stewardship
- Manage and grow a portfolio of active financial industry partners, ensuring high retention and year-over-year revenue growth.
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for key accounts, maintaining regular communication and strategic alignment.
Volunteerism & Workplace Engagement Strategy
- Develop and expand pathways for corporate engagement tied to financial education delivery.
- Support partners in integrating Financial Beginnings into their employee engagement and community impact strategies.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure volunteer experiences are high-quality, accessible, and aligned with partner expectations.
Systems, Reporting & Operations
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in CRM (HubSpot) and internal systems (BOX),
including pipeline, partner activity, and revenue tracking. - Develop and deliver regular revenue forecasts, pipeline reports, and performance updates.
- Ensure all partnership agreements, deliverables, and reporting requirements are documented and fulfilled.
Other General Responsibilities
- Build strong internal relationships across teams to ensure alignment, communication, and effective partnership delivery.
- Contribute to a culture of collaboration, transparency, and shared accountability.
- Stay informed on trends in financial education, workplace financial wellness, and corporate social responsibility.
- Represent Financial Beginnings externally in meetings, conferences, and events as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 7+ years of experience in partnerships, business development, and/or revenue generation (nonprofit or corporate)
- Director-level strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution capabilities—comfortable both developing strategy and implementing tactics
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets
- Strong consultative sales and relationship management skills
- Self-starter who can work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple projects
simultaneously - Comfortable collaborating online and/or working remotely with internal and external stakeholders
- Experience working with or within the financial industry preferred
- Ability to translate complex programmatic offerings into compelling partner value propositions
- Entrepreneurial mindset with comfort building new systems, processes, and markets
Compensation, Benefits and Work Details:
- Preferred locations: Portland, OR; Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; Los Angeles, CA; Minneapolis, MN
- Pay Range: Salaries at Financial Beginnings are based on experience and cost of living in your working location. We welcome applications from all locations and will consider candidates outside these cities.
- The annual salary range for this role in Seattle, WA; Boston, MA; or Los Angeles, CA is $98,000 - $120,000
- The annual salary range for this role in Portland, OR or Denver, CO is $78,000 - $106,000
- The annual salary range for this role in Minneapolis, MN or Columbus, OH is $62,000 - $84,000
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 40 hours/week, hours can be flexible around core meeting times.
Occasional need for evening and/or weekend meetings or events. - Status: Full-time, exempt
- Travel: Minimal, primarily for annual team gathering in Portland, OR and occasional conferences or events

Many Financial Beginnings staff and teams currently work 100% remotely with staff residing in the Portland, OR metro area working periodically in the Financial Beginnings headquarters office. Staff working 100% remotely will visit the organization’s home office in Portland, OR up to four times a year.
